From October 6 to 9, 2026, St. Petersburg will host the Ⅶ International Forum on Shipbuilding and the Development of High‑Tech Equipment for the Exploration of the Arctic and the Continental Shelf “OMR 2026”. The application period is open until August 24, 2026.
The forum is dedicated to the scientific and technological legacy of the outstanding Russian academician, materials scientist Igor Vasilyevich Gorynin – a man without whom it is impossible to imagine the nuclear fleet, civil shipbuilding, and the modern appearance of St. Petersburg.
The forum includes two plenary sessions (“Strategic Priorities for the Development of Resources on the Continental Shelf and in the Coastal Zone of the Arctic and the Far East” and “Strategic Priorities for the Development of the Shipbuilding Complex of the Russian Federation in the Arctic”), roundtables on technical and economic issues, a youth session “Modern Methods and Technologies in Supporting the Design of Ships and Ocean Engineering Equipment,” and technical seminars at industrial enterprises and scientific institutions in St. Petersburg.
The program also includes a youth forum. Young professionals under the age of 35, as well as postgraduate students, are invited to participate in one of two formats: as a speaker or as a team member solving cases related to the development of oil and gas fields on the continental shelf of the Arctic and the Far East.
As part of the conference program, leading Russian and international companies will be able to exchange experience in the areas of technological support for shipbuilding for the development of the shelf, the development of offshore structures, and the integrated development of Arctic territories and the Northern Sea Route (NSR).
Those wishing to participate in solving the cases must submit an application to the forum’s secretariat by email at lyapunova@restec.ru by August 24, 2026. To participate in the youth session as a speaker, you must submit an application and an abstract (or thesis) of the report in Russian no later than August 24, 2026, to the email address otmt@smtu.ru or to the conference secretariat.
