Today, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin, Head of the Ministry of Regional Development Alexey Chekunkov and Governor Andrey Chibis visited a key element of the Murmansk transport hub under construction — the Lavna port.

The project is among the priority areas of the Comprehensive Plan for the Modernization and Expansion of the backbone Infrastructure, has national significance and corresponds to the strategic priorities of the country's development. This is an increase in Russia's export potential, the prospect of "transshipment" and rail imports of containerized cargo, as well as the fulfillment of the task of Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase cargo traffic along the Northern Sea Route to 80 million tons by 2024.

"One of our most important residents of the TOP "Capital of the Arctic" is the port of Lavna. The project is an anchor element of the Murmansk transport hub. The implementation of the MTU would have been impossible without the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the federal government. Work is actively underway, at the moment the construction readiness of the new, powerful port is 68%. I note that the project is important not only for the region, but also for the whole country. It will increase the growth of tax revenues, attract investment and open new markets," the governor said.

The construction of the Lavna commercial sea port in the Murmansk Region is under the responsibility of the State Transport Leasing Company. STLC played a key role in structuring the project and concluding a concession agreement, and formed a financial model. The launch of Lavna will facilitate the opening of new export markets to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, including India.

Recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the importance of the development of the Murmansk transport hub and the need for accelerated creation. In addition, the Government of the Russian Federation has decided to allocate 37.7 billion rubles for the comprehensive development of the strategic project. The anchor element of the MTU is the port "Lavna".
