The Murmansk Region and the Republic of Belarus will jointly develop the infrastructure for the maintenance of quarry equipment in the Kola Arctic. The corresponding agreement was signed today by the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis and the General Director of JSC "BELAZ" - the management company of the holding "BELAZ-HOLDING" Sergey Nikiforovich in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko. The event took place within the framework of the working visit of the Belarusian delegation to the region.
"The agreement includes the construction of the BELAZ branded regional repair and service center in the Murmansk Region, the creation of high-performance jobs in Apatity, as well as the development of a modern service sector for quarry equipment in the region. In addition, the educational factor is important: today, on the basis of the MAGU branch in Apatity, the opening of the BELAZ classroom, created jointly with Avtotekhinmash LLC, the official representative of BELAZ, will take place. Students and specialists who operate BELAZ dump trucks using technical complexes, stands and virtual reality technologies will be able to undergo practical training here. Such agreements were reached following the visit of our delegation to the Republic of Belarus last year," Andrei Chibis stressed after the ceremony.
"There is a BELAZ service in the Murmansk region even now, but it is current, guaranteed. The agreement will increase the depth of repairs. For example, if you need to overhaul components or assemblies," commented Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko.
The agreement also provides for joint activities in the field of environmental policy and the social sphere.
The Belarusian automobile plant creates quarry equipment for work in different climatic conditions. The company's equipment is actively used in the Murmansk region in the mining and construction industry: about 300 BelAZs, including especially heavy–duty ones, work at mining enterprises of the Murmansk region - Kovdorsky GOK JSC, Kirov branch of Apatit JSC, Olenegorsky GOK JSC.
"As for many domestic manufacturers, the closure of foreign markets and restrictions on the purchase of individual components have become a good shake-up for us. We had to adapt quickly to new challenges. And I think we did it well. Today, in addition to classic diesel dump trucks, BELAZ is ready to offer quarry dump trucks with various technical solutions and fuel type, in particular, dump trucks running on liquefied natural gas, diesel trolleybuses, battery-powered vehicles and with a hybrid operation scheme, so that our client can choose the most optimal solution for their requirements", – Sergey Nikiforovich noted.
