Governor Andrey Chibis discussed new joint projects in the field of minerals with a delegation from India

A working meeting between Governor Andrey Chibis and a delegation of a large Indian industrial company took place in Murmansk today. During the talks, the parties discussed a number of new joint projects in the field of minerals and opportunities for cooperation.

"We are glad to welcome you to Murmansk, the capital of the Russian Arctic. India is a reliable partner of the Russian Federation. In terms of foreign trade turnover with the Murmansk region, India is among the ten largest partners. We have an ice–free deep-water port, which is the base port for the Northern Sea Route and the Transarctic Transport Corridor, through which cargo goes, including to India. The region is rich in minerals. I am sure that we have great prospects for cooperation. In addition, the Murmansk Region is a popular tourist destination, and the number of visitors from India is growing," the governor noted.

The head of the Indian delegation, Vinay Kumar, thanked his colleagues for the warm welcome and noted that the company was open to cooperation.

It should be noted that according to the results of foreign trade in 2025, India entered the top ten main trading partners of the Murmansk region. In comparison with 2024, the trade turnover increased by more than 60%. Cooperation in industry and logistics is also developing today.

Separately, during the meeting, the governor emphasized the growth of the tourist flow: in 2019, 23 guests from India visited the region, and in 2025 — more than 2,800.  In 6 years, there have been almost 130 times more Indian tourists.
