A working group meeting was held in Murmansk today under the leadership of Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region Olga Kuznetsova and Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Kukharev with the participation of representatives of the government and business of the two sides. During the meeting, the participants summed up the results of the agreements reached earlier on expanding trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation.
"The Republic of Belarus is traditionally the main foreign trade partner of the Murmansk Region, ranking first among the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. It is safe to say that a lot of joint work has already been done – large deliveries of buses and trolleybuses to the Murmansk region, as well as special equipment, direct flights on the Murmansk – Minsk route have been launched, an initiative exchange of experience is taking place between the Ministry of Health of the Murmansk Region and the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee, cooperation between Murmansk and Belarusian universities, joint events of creative and public organizations of the Murmansk region and the Republic of Belarus are held", – Olga Kuznetsova told me.
The Vice-Governor noted that cement, animal feed, vegetable and animal fats and oils, mineral products, fish and fish products account for the bulk of exports from the Murmansk Region to the Republic of Belarus, and also thanked colleagues from the Republic of Belarus for their special attention to cooperation with the Murmansk Region.
During the meeting, the participants discussed new promising areas for further economic cooperation.
"We plan to strengthen cooperation in the supply of municipal equipment and transport for passenger transportation, increase cooperation in the field of light industry," Olga Kuznetsova shared.
Vladimir Kukharev added that the Republic of Belarus is also ready to provide assistance in the road industry.
"In all issues with the Murmansk region, we find common ground, they are being resolved. There is full support from organizations and businesses. I am sure that we will be able to work out all these issues together as soon as possible, because our main task is to do everything so that people live comfortably," the chairman stressed.
After the meeting of the working group, representatives of the organizations of the two sides signed five important documents regulating further cooperation. Among them are memoranda on the possible purchase of bus and trolleybus equipment, contracts for the supply of goods and equipment, as well as an agreement on the supply of spare parts.
