Forum The Arctic: present and future will be held in St. Petersburg in December

On December 10-12, 2020, St. Petersburg will host the X international forum "Arctic: present and future" - one of the Central events with the Arctic agenda in Russia.

The forum will be held with the support and participation of the Federation Council, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and The state Commission for the development of the Arctic.it will bring together representatives of relevant Federal ministries, regional authorities, commercial companies and research organizations, and the media. The organizer is the interregional public organization "Association of polar explorers".

The organizing Committee of the forum is traditionally headed by the President of the Association, special representative of the President of Russia for international cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov.

The two-day discussion program includes more than 25 events. Participants of working and panel sessions, conferences and round tables will discuss social and economic issues, science and technology, transport, industry, communications and digital technologies, ecology and security of the macroregion.

A separate section will be devoted to the preparation of the Russian presidency of the Arctic Council in 2021-2023, which unites 8 Arctic States-Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, the United States, Finland, Sweden, as well as a number of observer countries.

The block of business events will be consolidated with the exhibition program, which will include an extensive thematic exposition. It will feature Arctic regions and major companies that will present opportunities for the development of the Russian Arctic.

THE venue will be the EXPOFORUM exhibition center.

The main outcome of the forum will be a resolution that will be sent to the relevant committees of the upper and lower chambers of the Federal Assembly, the Government of the Russian Federation, the State Commission for the development of the Arctic to improve legislation and state regulation in the field of sustainable development of the Arctic zone of Russia.
