The BRICS Summit is the central event within the framework of the Russian Federation's BRICS presidency, which started on January 1, 2024. BRICS is an interstate association, an alliance of ten countries: Brazil, Russia, India, the People's Republic of China, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia. The motto of the Russian presidency of the association is "Strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security."
The XVI Summit will focus on promoting the entire range of partnership cooperation within the framework of the association in three key areas — politics and security, economics and finance, cultural and humanitarian ties. All these three areas are of a major and equivalent nature, and they are identified as priorities of the Russian presidency.
