A modern hotel complex will be built in Murmansk

As part of the events dedicated to World Tourism Day, a trilateral agreement on the implementation of a multifunctional hotel complex project was signed at the Regional Management Center. The document was signed by Governor Andrey Chibis, President of the leading federal hotel operator Cosmos Hotel Group Alexander Biba and CEO of Interstroy Evgeny Kabanov.

The project provides for the creation of a modern 4-star hotel on the basis of the Shakhter Hotel in accordance with international quality standards. The multifunctional hotel complex with more than 100 rooms will be located at 10 Pushkinskaya St. The new hotel will be equipped with conference halls, restaurants, a SPA complex and other services for guests.

"The basis of our agreement will be the creation of a new modern hotel on the territory where the Shakhter Hotel is currently located, which has not been used for many years. I thank my colleagues from Cosmos Hotel Group and Interstroy for their support and initiative to build a decent hotel here for the hero city of Murmansk, the capital of the Arctic, as Russian President Vladimir Putin called our city," said Governor Andrey Chibis.

The head of the region also stressed the relevance of the project.

"Murmansk is showing rapid growth in the tourist flow and is becoming an important center for business and event tourism. A new modern hotel is an urgent need for the city. Even today, many people cannot rent a room even in the off-season, even those who come on business trips come to us with requests for assistance. The utilization of existing hotels is high, and there should be competition. A new hotel of high quality, of the level that the hotel operator Cosmos Hotel Group is able to do, is necessary for the city and the region. The second important topic is joint work on the implementation of best practices in tourism. This work has already begun, and our colleagues are helping to develop the competencies of local businesses. The cooperation will also include a personnel training project for the tourism industry," the governor noted.

As part of the agreement, the region will assume key functions for the implementation of the project, including the adaptation of the former Shakhter hotel building, the technological connection of the facility to utility networks, and more.

"Murmansk is one of the fastest growing regions in terms of tourist traffic, and it has become especially popular with foreign visitors from China. In addition, in recent years the city has become a center of business and event tourism and annually hosts a large number of events, participants and guests. Thus, according to our network, Murmansk is consistently among the top 5 popular travel destinations for both Russians and foreign visitors. I am confident that the experience and joint expertise of leading companies in the hotel industry will create a new modern and sought-after point of attraction. In addition, according to our forecasts, the new hotel will be able to accommodate up to 70,000 guests annually," commented Alexander Biba, President of Cosmos Hotel Group.

The investor of the hotel reconstruction project will be the Interstroy company. The total investment will amount to about 5 billion rubles, and the project is scheduled to be completed in 2027. The renovated hotel will be managed by Cosmos Hotel Group after completion of the work.

"The decision to build in Murmansk is a bold and strategically important step for the InterStroy Group of companies. We are already implementing a large residential complex in Murmansk, and we see a growing interest in high-quality facilities in the region. For more than 21 years, InterStroy has been building projects from Crimea to Murmansk. Together with Cosmos Hotel Group, InterStroy is implementing a large-scale hotel project in Crimea. The partnership's experience proves that the combined competencies of our teams make it possible to create federal-level facilities that meet the highest quality standards. Murmansk is developing rapidly today: the tourist flow is growing, the center of business and event tourism is being formed, new points of attraction for residents and guests of the region are emerging. We are confident that our experience and professional teams will allow us to create a modern hotel complex that will become part of the new infrastructure of the city, enhance its investment attractiveness and open up new opportunities for business and tourism," said Evgeny Kabanov, head of InterStroy.

The creation of a modern hotel complex will make a significant contribution to the development of the tourism infrastructure of the Murmansk region and will help to increase the attractiveness of the region for business, event and other types of tourism.
