The renewed production will increase the volume of precious metal production, as well as the company's revenues and contributions to the regional budget.
"Despite the sanctions and restrictions, the attempt to fight our economy, it is great that the company continues to develop. Production was promptly set up on a temporary site, and in record time a new modern, environmentally friendly one was created. All this is extremely important for the economy of the region and the country. After all, this is a matter of preserving jobs and tax potential," Andrey Chibis emphasized.
This is the only company in Russia that produces electrolytic cobalt of the highest grades. Its capacity is up to 3,000 tons per year of metallic cobalt with a purity of 99.9%.
The company's investments in the project amounted to 5.3 billion rubles. Cobalt is produced using chloride extraction and electrolysis technology developed by Norilsk Nickel specialists.
It meets the most modern requirements of hydrometallurgical schemes for the production of electrolytic cobalt in the world, including from the point of view of ecology. The production is based on Russian technologies and software. In particular, a domestic automated process control system was introduced. The qualitative characteristics of cobalt produced by Kola MMC make it possible to use it in all areas where this metal is needed — batteries, catalysts, magnets, and the aerospace industry.
