The Governor held a working meeting with the Senator of the Russian Federation

Governor Andrey Chibis held a working meeting with Russian Senator Elena Diaghileva. The head of the region thanked the senator for actively supporting the interests of the Murmansk Region on federal platforms.

"The main task that we face is everything related to the financial support of the entity.  The federal budget has been adopted, the regional budget is under consideration, the time is not easy, and in these circumstances we rightly count on the support of the federal center. You support us, including taking into account professional qualifications, and work is underway in discussions in the Federation Council and with federal agencies. Thank you for your involvement and active position. Recently, at a meeting with President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, we also raised this issue. The President gave relevant instructions to the Russian Ministry of Finance. I ask you, while in Moscow, to continue working within the framework of fulfilling this assignment," the governor stressed.

The representative of the Murmansk Region in the Federation Council emphasized the importance of monitoring the business climate in the region.

"As Speaker of the Chamber of Regions Valentina Matvienko clearly noted, in order to balance the financial system, it is necessary to make changes to it. All decisions have been thought out, each one has been discussed in detail by the Senate, but changes in tax legislation can certainly provoke the risk of an increase in the shadow sector and, consequently, a decrease in tax revenues. It is important to consolidate efforts to preserve the investment attractiveness of the Arctic and support the business community," said Elena Diaghileva.

The senator spoke in detail about cooperation with relevant departments in key areas. Among them is the discussion of proposals that the head of the Murmansk Region made at a meeting of the State Council Commission on the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic, as well as the possibility of granting regions the right to independently decide on the preservation of benefits for small and medium–sized businesses operating in the territory. This is extremely important for the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, in particular for the Murmansk region, which has a comprehensive system for supporting business initiatives and two preferential regimes.

"At a meeting with entrepreneurs, during a visit to companies, we discussed measures that operate under federal programs and the governor's plan "Live in the North!", and a business strategy based on the difficult decisions made. The senators' task, first of all, is to ensure the stability of the regional budget and the fulfillment of all social obligations. But it is equally important to continue the development of the territories, and this is impossible without the participation of the business community. I am sure that your initiative and the willingness of the federal center to conduct a constructive dialogue will help maintain positive dynamics," the senator summed up.
