Governor Andrey Chibis held a working meeting with S7 Group shareholder Vladislav Filev. The parties discussed the further implementation of an important project for the modernization of a ship repair facility in Murmansk, which is entering an active phase.
"Our project with S7 is of strategic importance for the Murmansk region, the Arctic and the whole country. Following the results of the International Arctic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin supported our initiatives and gave a number of instructions. Important tasks are to increase the pace of integrated development of the Murmansk transport hub: the base port of the Northern Sea Route and the Transarctic transport Corridor, and to step up work on key settlements in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. In particular, this requires the development of ship repair infrastructure and the creation of new shipyards. Within the framework of the S7 Group project, extensive and painstaking work is underway to modernize the ship repair facilities available in Murmansk," the governor noted.
The company is creating a new modern ship repair plant on the territory adjacent to the marine station: for this purpose, the areas of the old shipyard are being actively renovated. The territory is being cleared, ship repair work has been started, and the company is fulfilling orders. Upgrade the existing dock. In August, another dock purchased by the company will arrive, which has no analogues in the waters of the Kola Bay.: This will also increase the volume of work. In addition, project documentation is being developed for further stages of modernization. During the meeting, the parties discussed the key parameters, approaches and possible prospects of the project.
"Synchronization of work is important for us. We are conducting a comprehensive development of the entire coastal zone to grow the economy and make the city more comfortable. In particular, we are actively restarting the seaport as a public and tourist space. It also expands the functionality and creates an additional point of attraction," commented Andrey Chibis.
