On July 15, the EL5–Energy Trail race will take place on the territory of the Kola Wind Farm, the world's most powerful wind farm located beyond the Arctic Circle.
For those wishing to take part in the sports event, 5 adult distances of 3, 8, 20 and 50 km are available, including a team relay of 7 to 7 km, as well as a children's race.
All proceeds will go to charitable foundations of the Murmansk region, and when buying a slot, participants themselves can determine who they want to support.
The event is organized by the Russian energy company EL5-Energo, the operator of the Kola wind farm, and one of the races – the Spirits of the Tundra relay – will be held with the support of PJSC LUKOIL as part of the 25th anniversary of the company's sports club. All tracks are laid exclusively on the roads already existing at the wind farm and developed areas to minimize the impact on the unique northern tundra.
It should be noted that in the starting packages, runners will receive silicone reusable cups, which will save several tens of kilograms of plastic, which is formed during races using disposable tableware.
A photo zone, a lecture hall, educational quests and a children's club, as well as food zones will be organized on the territory of the start-finish town.
You can get to the venue of the race both by your own transport and by transfer, which will run from the AZIMUT hotel and back.
You can register and get more detailed information about the event on the official website.
Recall that the Kola wind farm is the most powerful wind farm in the world, located beyond the Arctic Circle. The 201 MW wind farm is equipped with 57 modern turbines located on a total area of 257 hectares. Wind energy is one of the "greenest" on the planet. The operation of the wind farm makes it possible to provide consumers with electricity and at the same time avoid the emission of about 600 thousand tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
