The industrial tourism project at the Kola WPP (PJSC EL5-Energo) was among the winners of the International Award of Communication Practices in the field of tourism "RUP". The final of the award and the face-to-face defense of the projects took place yesterday in St. Petersburg as part of the XV Eurasian Event Forum (EFEA).
Industrial tourism at the Kola Wind Farm is recognized as one of the best practices for the development and promotion of tourist areas. The first excursions to the Kola wind farm started in June 2024 and included a visit to the wind farm. In 2025, a new tourist location was opened on the territory of the wind farm — an exhibition dedicated to the history of the construction of the largest wind farm in the world beyond the Arctic Circle, as well as a mini-cafe with souvenirs. During the tour, the guide introduces the guests to the history of wind energy, talks about the mechanism of converting wind energy into electricity and its path to the substation and access to the grid, and then to consumers' homes.
Since the launch of the project, more than 3,300 people from 37 regions of the country have visited the Kola WPP.
