A working visit of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Karelia, as well as business representatives, is taking place in the Murmansk region. The working trip takes place within the framework of the current cooperation agreement between the development agencies of the two regions, concluded in 2022. The purpose of the trip is to share best practices in working with investors in the Arctic territories.
The Murmansk Region is a leader in attracting investments in the Arctic and a territory for the implementation of large–scale logistics and industrial investment projects. Investments in the region for five years amounted to 1.2 trillion rubles, in addition, the Murmansk region is a donor of the best practices in working with investors. According to the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the level of work with investors in the region is increasing every year and socially significant projects in the field of public-private partnership are being implemented.
"We work with any projects, making no distinction between small or large entrepreneurs. Any investor comes to the Development Corporation and receives all the necessary support in terms of selecting land plots, a package of support measures that are suitable directly for his business, as well as administrative support throughout the entire project cycle," said Artem Kuksa, General Director of the Murmansk Region Corporation.
The Murmansk Region and the Republic of Karelia are regions with similar climatic conditions, almost 40% of the territory of the neighboring region is also included in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and falls under the special preferential regime. To make it easier for investors to implement their projects, an industrial technopark has been launched on the territory of the republic. Representatives of the enterprise and its residents told in more detail about how the site's capabilities contribute to the development of the stone processing industry in the Arctic at the meeting.
"I would like to share my work experience. At the moment, a strong investment block team is working in the region – we are all working in the same direction," said Elena Klimchuk, Head of the Development Corporation of the Republic of Karelia.
One of the main goals of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Karelia is to get acquainted with the peculiarities of the work of the Institute of Investment Officers in the Murmansk region, which has been operating in the region for three years. By the end of 2024, the institutions of investment authorities must be implemented in all regions of the country within the framework of the new investment standard of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
As part of the interaction on the exchange of experience, on October 1, the Karelian delegation will visit Kirovsk and Apatity, as well as visit the sites of implemented investment projects, including residents of the Russian Arctic, the launch of which was also facilitated by investment officials.
