Rosenergoatom Concern JSC has received licenses from Rostechnadzor for the placement of power units No. 1 and No. 2 of the Kola NPP‑2. This means that the selected site meets the safety requirements, and the project is ready to move into the practical phase.
The contractor will begin preparatory work in the near future.: construction of access roads, construction and installation facilities, and territory planning.
The new power units will make it possible to replace the capacities whose service life is coming to an end and maintain a stable energy balance in the region.

The main stage of construction will begin after obtaining a construction license. For this, the design will have to be completed and the state expertise will have to be passed. The commissioning of the first power units is planned as part of the overall construction in 2029-2037.
