Representatives of 15 companies participating in the Association “National Association of Manufacturers of Construction Materials and the Construction Industry” arrived in the Murmansk Region as part of a business mission. Over the course of two days, representatives of the construction business are getting acquainted with the region’s investment opportunities, the development of the construction industry, and the prospects for localizing production capacities in the Arctic region.
The business mission is a continuation of the agreements reached in June 2026 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum between the head of the region, Andrei Chibis, and the Association.
“Our goal is to introduce the delegation to the Murmansk Region: they will see how housing construction is developing, specifically the Kola residential complex, which made it possible to observe in practice the dynamics of housing construction in the Arctic and the emerging demand for building materials, the construction site of the pool on Kola Avenue, which is being implemented through a public‑private partnership mechanism with the participation of the Murmansk Region Development Corporation, and they will get acquainted with the opportunities offered by the future industrial park,” noted Elena Nesterovich, General Director of the Murmansk Region Development Corporation.
“Large‑scale investment projects by residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation are creating a steady demand for construction materials: the projected need exceeds millions of cubic metres and square metres — from concrete and reinforced concrete products to finishing materials and waterproofing compounds. Seventy‑two facilities have already been commissioned, and it is planned to add another 99 by 2020. This not only demonstrates significant demand for construction resources but also creates conditions for localising production within the region,” said Artem Kuksa, First Deputy Minister for the Development of the Arctic and the Economy of the Murmansk Region, during a business session.
The Murmansk Region is one of the key regions for the development of the Russian Arctic. The implementation of large‑scale construction and infrastructure projects is creating a growing demand in the region for modern building materials, technologies and solutions for industrial cooperation.
“The Murmansk Region made a strong impression: large‑scale projects are being implemented here, and there is a serious demand for modern building materials, technologies and the competencies of our enterprises.
We see great potential for systematic work in the region.” “It is fundamentally important for us that the outcome of this business mission is not only new contacts, but also concrete agreements, projects, and a long‑term presence of our enterprises in the Murmansk Region,” noted Anton Solon, Executive Director of the Association.
Alexandra Karpova, Minister of Construction of the Murmansk Region, presented to the participants of the business mission the region’s construction cluster, the main directions of its development, and the current needs of the Murmansk Region in construction materials.
“Over the past seven years, the construction industry of the Murmansk Region has made a huge step forward. We have managed to revive housing construction, which had virtually ceased since the Soviet era, and to secure federal funding under the ZATO renovation program. In addition, despite everything, we continue to modernize the social infrastructure of the polar cities and towns.”
As part of the business mission, the heads of federal construction companies spoke with representatives of the region’s construction industry, as well as with residents of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation; the parties identified areas for further cooperation.
