For the fourth time, the Murmansk Region Development Corporation, with the support of the regional government, conducted a career guidance tour for schoolchildren at the sites of large-scale investment projects.
This year, for the first time, the participants were middle school students of the Governor's Lyceum, who are studying in the areas of "Northern Sea Route" and "Bioresources".
Before the trip, Svetlana Panfilova, Deputy Governor and Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region, met with the children. She spoke about the investment and economic potential of the region and answered the students' questions in an open dialogue format.
"The Murmansk Region, as a flagship for the development of the Arctic, has something to be proud of both in the arena of the Russian economy and in the global arena. It is very gratifying that the children already have a good foundation, and our task is only to develop this interest. And it can be developed not only at the desk, but also by specifically visiting enterprises and telling them that it used to be empty here, but now it is a high–tech modern production facility where they will definitely be expected to work in the future," Svetlana Panfilova emphasized.
As part of the tour, the students visited the sites of key investment projects aimed at the development of the Northern Sea Route and the transport and logistics complex.
The students visited the Lavna Commercial Seaport, a modern high–tech coal transshipment terminal on the western shore of the Kola Bay, which allows year-round transshipment of coal to cargo ships, including large-tonnage bulk carriers with a carrying capacity of more than 150 thousand tons.
The next point of the visit was the modern refrigerated complex Terminal Udarnik, designed for storing fish products during transshipment from one type of transport to another and containerization of fish products. The project is being implemented by the Norebo Company, a resident of the preferential treatment of the Capital of the Arctic TOP.
During the career guidance tour, representatives of the Murmansk Region Development Corporation told the participants in detail about the key stages of project implementation, about the interaction of business and development institutions, which allows launching modern production facilities, as well as about the prospects that open up for young people and all residents of the Murmansk region.
"The implementation of an investment project is not only its support, it is a complex work. Which, of course, requires highly qualified specialists. And it is precisely this kind of career guidance work with young people that builds human resources from an early age. Although such activities of the region's investment team are not directly related to the implementation of projects, the complex effect is obvious. Vocational courses help children choose their profession not emotionally, or because their parents insisted, but based on their interests," said Artem Kuksa, General Director of the Regional Development Corporation.
The event was held as part of the Days of Entrepreneurship of the Murmansk Region and the patriotic education program "Live in the North!" in order to motivate young people to stay to study and work in the North, as well as choose professions that are in demand in promising sectors of the economy.
