At an operational meeting, Governor Andrey Chibis announced that the Bolshoy Woodyavr ski resort was recognized as the best in the Northwestern Federal District following the results of the IV National Award "Mountains of Russia". The victory was the result of a vote by more than 380,000 users among 350 nominees from all over the country.
"The resort is getting better every year. I would like to thank our partner, PhosAgro, which is engaged in this facility, which makes us happy with something new every year. The government of the Murmansk Region, for its part, is additionally investing in the development of Kirovsk, which, according to the residents themselves, is getting more comfortable and beautiful every year," said Andrey Chibis.
The large-scale competition is organized by the Center for the Development of the Ski Industry and Tourist Territories and is designed to promote the development of ski tourism in Russia, the consolidation of the ski industry, as well as the promotion of outdoor recreation in the mountains. This year, over 350 mountain and ski resorts and complexes, as well as mountain hotels located throughout the country, became its participants.
The winners of the award were determined by popular vote, which was held on the official website from August 15 to October 15. The award ceremony was held in Moscow. According to the results of the voting, the Bolshoy Woodyavr ski resort was recognized as the winner in the nomination "The best ski resort in Russia in the North-Western Federal District."
"The Bolshoy Woodyavr Ski Resort has won the Mountains of Russia National Award in various categories for the fourth time. This tradition of leadership is the fruit of the efforts of the highly professional team of the resort, the investments of PhosAgro, as well as a reflection of recognition among fans of active winter recreation throughout the country," said Alexander Sergienko, director of the Bolshoy Woodyavr ski Resort, commenting on the victory. "For our part, together with the government of the Murmansk Region, and with the help of federal support tools, we will continue to work hard to further improve the resort's infrastructure and develop the unique potential that nature has generously endowed the Khibiny."
The Bolshoy Woodyavr Ski Resort is an anchor facility of the Khibiny mountain and tourism cluster. It includes the airport of the same name, the Tirvas SPA Hotel, a network of accommodation and catering facilities in Kirovsk and Apatity, as well as the Northern Safari outdoor recreation center. PhosAgro has already allocated more than 25 billion rubles for the development of the cluster's infrastructure.
Last summer, the staff of the Bolshoy Woodyavr resort prepared profiles of trails for even safer and more comfortable skiing, and carried out work to modernize the lighting system on individual trails. Rental equipment has traditionally been updated, the network of food outlets at the resort is expanding and the qualifications of the service staff are being improved.
It should be recalled that in October of this year, Bolshoy Woodyavr won two SKI BUSINESS AWARDS nominations: "The Best director/Manager of a ski complex (trails over 10 km long)" and "The Best Snow Compaction Specialist (Rattler)".
In November 2024, the resort was recognized as the winner of the National Award "Mountains of Russia" in the nomination "The best ski resort in Russia within the city."
