The Murmansk agglomeration entered the top 10 rating of economic efficiency of territories along with Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The "Urbanica" Institute has compiled a rating of the economic efficiency of 52 agglomerations of Russia.
" The authors of the study identified four types of agglomerations in terms of size and economic impact: ""bears"" — economic giants, " "moose" — large, but not the most effective, ""badgers" — modest and unproductive, and "lynxes" — small, but very productive. This is just about the Murmansk region.
According to data for 2024, with a population of 350,000 people, the Murmansk agglomeration has approached the figure of 1 trillion rubles of gross product, which is more than 2 million rubles per inhabitant. Investments in the region's economy and shipments of goods are also growing annually.
As Governor Andrey Chibis noted, all this shows that our joint work increases the efficiency of the economy, allows us to launch and develop new projects.
"Getting into the TOP 10 of the rating indicates the effectiveness of our enterprises in the region. The comparison with the lynx is very accurate: our advantage is not in size, but in high efficiency: strength and precision, the ability to achieve results where conditions are obviously difficult. Even with the planned cooling of the economy, we manage to maintain high performance: in the last six months alone, we have attracted 143 billion rubles of investment, which is 14% more than the same period last year," commented the head of the region.
