July 13 marked the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the preferential regime of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The Russian Arctic is the largest territory in the world with special business conditions, fully or partially covering 10 regions of the Russian Arctic.
"The Murmansk Region is the absolute leader in terms of investments made by residents among the regions of the Russian Arctic. We currently have about 300 registered residents, companies that invest in manufacturing, construction, logistics, and tourism. Tax benefits, reduced insurance premiums, and the opportunity to obtain land without bidding are provided for them, which greatly facilitates the launch and development of projects. And this means new jobs and improved infrastructure, which directly affects the quality of life of Northerners," commented Governor Andrey Chibis.
During the operational meeting, First Deputy Governor Oksana Demchenko noted that almost half of the projects of the residents of the Russian Arctic are currently in the active stage of implementation. During the period of preferential treatment, 54 major projects have already been implemented in the region – industrial, transport, tourist and social facilities have appeared.
"This development is important not only for our region, but also for the entire Russian Arctic, strengthening its position as a key economic and strategic center," Oksana Demchenko noted.
