Vice-Governor Olga Kuznetsova met with Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev

During the working visit, Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region Olga Kuznetsova met with Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev. During the negotiations, the participants discussed transport and logistics opportunities for further cooperation.

"The Murmansk Region has great prospects for further development, especially in our key industry – transport and logistics. The cargo turnover of the port of Murmansk is steadily growing from year to year. In 2023, the cargo turnover of the port of Murmansk amounted to 58 million tons. Investment projects are being implemented to modernize port terminals and our largest stevedoring companies, such as Murmansk Commercial Sea Port, Murmansk Bulk Terminal and others. The new Lavna port terminal with a capacity of 18 million tons is in a high stage of readiness. Completion of construction and installation works and the start of transshipment is planned in 2024. A mutually beneficial dialogue has been established between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Murmansk Region in terms of cooperation in various sectors of the economy and national economy. We hope that this visit will finally form your understanding of the region's capabilities and help you make strategic decisions on cooperation with the Murmansk Region," Olga Kuznetsova greeted the guests.

During the communication, the delegations of Kazakhstan provided information on the port infrastructure, transshipment volumes, the capacity of railway approaches and the possibilities of terminals for transshipment of goods.

As Marat Karabayev noted, the Republic of Kazakhstan is interested in the logistics capabilities of the Murmansk region.

"We know that Belarusian colleagues have also shown interest in the port facilities of the region. Today, the meeting is attended by representatives of business in Kazakhstan, who also came to get acquainted with the logistics potential of the region to consider further joint projects. There are all prerequisites for the development of our cooperation in the field of transport and logistics," the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan stressed.

After the visit, the delegation of Kazakhstan visited a number of port terminals: Murmansk commercial port Lavna, Murmansk Commercial Sea Port, Murmansk bulk terminal.

Recall that within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dauren Abayev, where they discussed the tasks of cooperation in the field of logistics development.
