The RP-SHIPPING company (part of the RUSPETROL group of companies), which is implementing a logistics development project on the Northern Sea Route, has acquired an Arctic-class sea tanker "Cilicia" to ensure uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products to customers within the framework of the northern delivery. The tanker will also transport fuel in the Far East, if necessary, foreign flights. The vessel with a deadweight of 20 thousand tons will start working in the second half of February 2023. Under an agreement with the Far East and Arctic Development Corporation (KRDV), a resident of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation (AZRF) invested 568 million rubles in the project.
"Our company carries out the wholesale sale and transportation of oil cargo both in cabotage and on the international market with its own and leased fleet. As a resident of the Russian Arctic, we are implementing a project to develop the logistics of the Northern Sea Route. For this purpose, an Arctic class ARC5 tanker with a deadweight of 20 thousand tons was purchased, it was given a new name "Cilicia". The vessel will be able to provide supplies and transportation of fuel during the summer and winter Arctic navigation to facilities located in the coastal part of the Northern Sea Route, among them large enterprises implementing important projects for the country in the field of mining, including residents of the Russian Arctic. It is planned to transport 100 thousand tons of cargo per year along the Northern Sea Route, in the Far East, and the ship will enter the route in February 2023," said Alexander Medvedev, General Director of RP-SHIPPING.
He noted that 568 million rubles have already been invested in the implementation of the project within the framework of the agreement with the KRDV on investment activities in the Russian Arctic.
"With the participation of the Ministry of Regional Development of Russia and the KRDV, Sberbank PJSC issued us a loan under a preferential program aimed at attracting borrowed funds for the implementation of projects of residents of the Russian Arctic. The loan amount is a significant part of the total investment in the project. In addition, the Ministry of Regional Development of Russia assisted in the transaction for the purchase of the vessel "Kilikia", – said Alexander Medvedev.
"The enterprises of the residents of the Russian Arctic make a significant contribution to the development of the transport and logistics infrastructure of the Russian Arctic. Using the mechanisms of state support, the business is actively implementing 48 projects in the field of logistics and transport, aimed at creating ports, warehouse and logistics complexes, providing services for sea and air transportation, and others. Nine projects out of this number have already been put into operation. Among them are an airline in Yakutia, a cargo terminal in Arkhangelsk, a shipping company in the Murmansk region," said Vladimir Gudkov, Deputy director of the Department of Support for the implementation of investment projects of the KRDV.
In total, according to the KRDV, 556 agreements on investment activities in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation have been signed.
