Andrey Chibis and Alexey Miller discussed the progress of gasification work in the region

Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, held a working meeting with Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee. The central theme was the implementation of the first five-year gasification program for 2026-2030 in the region, signed in October this year.

According to the program, priority is given to connecting large thermal power facilities to grid gas — boilers and thermal power plants - which will become the basis for the comprehensive modernization of the entire heat supply industry in the Kola Arctic.

The implementation of the gasification program is of strategic importance for the Murmansk Region and will have an overall positive impact on all spheres of life. For example, gas-fired boilers will make the heat supply system more stable and manageable. And switching to natural gas will make it possible to curb the growth of heat tariffs for residents in the future.

In addition, replacing fuel oil with environmentally friendly gas fuel will significantly reduce harmful emissions and improve air quality in the cities of the region.

"For the industry of the Murmansk region, gasification is a transition to a qualitatively new level of competitiveness. Abandoning fuel oil in favor of mainline gas will give companies a long-awaited cost reduction. The released resources of the enterprise will be able to be used for technical re-equipment, the launch of new production facilities and the creation of additional jobs. Business development, in turn, will increase tax revenues to the budget. Our most important task in this process is to ensure that industrial consumers in the region receive an average gas price in the North—Western Federal District. I also announced this initiative at a recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin," said Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region.

Access to stable and economical energy resources is the foundation for a qualitative breakthrough in the industrial development of the region. This will allow not only to extract raw materials in the Murmansk region, but also to establish its deep processing directly in the region, creating value chains.
