The Senator of the Russian Federation visited the coastal processing plant

Elena Diaghileva, a representative of the Murmansk Region in the Federation Council, visited the Polar Sea+ coastal processing plant, which is part of the Norebo Group of Companies. The main purpose of the visit is to discuss the strategy of the resident of the TOP "Capital of the Arctic" in the context of sanctions pressure.

"The development of the fishing industry is a prerequisite for ensuring the country's food security. The mechanisms of preferential treatment and investment quotas, combined with the "Live in the North!" plan, ensure the sustainability of the industry even taking into account unprecedented sanctions pressure. Polar fishermen continue to fish on almost 200 vessels, including new ones built at domestic shipyards, and every ninth ton of fish products in our country is produced by enterprises of the Murmansk region. One of the leaders is a unique factory in the small village of Minkino on the shore of the Kola Bay," the parliamentarian explained.

According to the senator, modern technologies used at the enterprise ensure high quality of products while respecting the fragile nature of the Arctic. As an example, she cited the unique supercooling technology, in which the temperature is kept for all cycles immediately after lifting the fish on board, as well as the country's first high-pressure fillet cutting system installed at the factory. More environmentally friendly production is made by the absence of freon in the refrigeration shop and the recycling of water that "delivers" cod and haddock on the conveyor.

"Minkino produces more than a hundred types of fish products, and processes more than 1,500 tons of raw materials per month. And, importantly, production is 100% waste-free: as many fish were brought from the fishery, so many goods were released. Even the skins of cod and haddock are not thrown away here, but are used to produce treats for dogs. This is another example of respect for nature," said Elena Diaghileva.

In addition to the products familiar to Russians, the polar enterprise produces clipfisk, a product known since the time of the Great Geographical Discoveries in Europe. According to the senator, the Murmansk Region has traditionally exported fish and seafood to the European market, but due to changes in market conditions and a decrease in trade volumes with previous partners, exports are being reoriented to new destinations – China, South Korea, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Uruguay and other countries.
