
As part of a working trip to Moscow, the Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, met with the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexei Chekunkov. The key topic of discussion was the preparation for the International Arctic Forum "The Arctic – the territory of Dialogue", which will be held in Murmansk for the first time on March 26-27, as well as the implementation of master plans for support settlements in the Arctic.
"The forum is being held in Murmansk for the first time, and this is, of course, a great responsibility for us. We will not only present our region, but also show how, thanks to new projects and government support, the Arctic is becoming a territory of opportunity, technological breakthrough and a comfortable place for people to live. The implementation of master plans for support settlements, the modernization of infrastructure, and the creation of new jobs are all key tasks that we will discuss in detail at the Forum," said Governor Andrei Chibis.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the main issues on the Forum's agenda, including projects aimed at socio-economic development of territories, creating business conditions and improving the quality of life in the Arctic regions.
The IAF-2025 business program is divided into four thematic blocks: "The Arctic and the NSR: how to win the competition of world routes", "The Arctic and the NSR: the pole of attracting investments", "The Arctic and the NSR: the development of anchor settlements", "International cooperation and ecology".
The program includes meetings of the commissions of the State Council of the Russian Federation in the areas of the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic, Efficient Transport System and International Cooperation and Export. The Taste of the Arctic food festival, demonstration exercises of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Arctic lounge "Wives of Heroes" will also be held.
