Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin assessed the pace of housing construction in the Murmansk region

A meeting was held in Moscow between Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin and Governor Andrey Chibis, during which issues of socio-economic development of the Murmansk Region and the implementation of important infrastructure projects for the region were discussed. During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the effective work of the Murmansk Region government on the construction of new housing.

"A new national project, Infrastructure for Life, has now been launched, which sets new ambitious goals. One of them is to improve the quality of the living environment by 30% by 2030 in the main settlements. In the Murmansk Region, these settlements include 17 towns and villages, which are home to more than 85% of the region's population. At the same time, we must not allow lagging behind in other settlements," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Marat Khusnullin highly appreciated the volume of apartment building commissioning in the region, noting that over the past year it has increased by about three times compared to 2023. In addition, the region has exceeded the indicators for the resettlement of emergency housing.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues of modernization of housing and communal services, renovation of the road network and infrastructure development with the help of federal support tools.

Governor Andrey Chibis stressed that one of the strategically important projects for the region is the gasification of the Murmansk Region. Its implementation will make it possible to close the issue of the region's fuel oil dependence, will become an impetus for the development of new production facilities and the creation of new jobs, which is one of the key areas of the strategic plan for the development of the region "Live in the North!".

"I thank the Russian Government and Marat Shakirzyanovich for their support of our initiatives. The issues discussed today are important for the Murmansk Region. This is, first of all, the preparation of heat supply sources in the Murmansk region for conversion to natural gas," said Governor Andrey Chibis, noting that joint work with Gazprom continues in accordance with the procedure approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

So, on the eve in Murmansk, prospective volumes of natural gas for all categories of consumers were identified and the placement of gas pipelines in the territories of municipalities in the region, the level of potential gasification of the population, the transfer of boilers, industrial and other organizations to natural gas were discussed.

The bilateral meeting also raised topics planned for discussion at the International Arctic Forum, which will be held in Murmansk on March 26-27. Among them is the scaling up of the affordable rental housing program, the allocation of a separate limit for northern settlements in the competition of projects for a comfortable urban environment.

"We have been working on them for a long time within the framework of the State Council commission: we are honing them, discussing them with experts. It is important that we now have the support of the federal government. We will present the result already at the forum – I am sure it will become the basis for breakthrough solutions in the development of the Arctic territories," Andrey Chibis commented on the results of the meeting.
