Андрей Чибис: инвестиции-главная причина смены погоды в вопросе газификации Мурманской области

During a live broadcast on social networks dedicated to two years of work as governor, Andrey Chibis said that following a meeting in the Government of the Russian Federation on the issue of gasification of the Murmansk region and the Republic of Karelia, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak supported the feasibility of gasification of the Murmansk region.

The meeting was held on behalf of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. It considered various options for gasification of the region, including two projects of Gazprom. We are talking about the creation of the main gas pipeline "Volkhov-Murmansk" with an investment of about 300 billion rubles. Now the company "NOVATEK" calculates the possibility of building a gas pipe from Volkhov to Murmansk on its own. The estimated construction period of the prospective gas main pipeline is 5 years. The second option is gasification with liquefied natural gas with the construction of a terminal for receiving, storing and regasifying LNG.

The reason for the shift in the issue of gasification from the "dead point" was the growth of investment in the region.

"It is too early to talk about a specific decision. But the main thing is that we have a chance.  We received a positive opinion from Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak on the feasibility of gasification of the Murmansk region at the expense of the gas pipeline. "We will continue to fight for the interests of the region in the federal government and, of course, we will do everything to bring this issue to an end."

Among other things, gasification and, consequently, moving away from fuel oil dependence will resolve a number of environmental issues. In the future, the arrival of gas in the region will reduce public spending on housing and communal services.
