During the operational meeting, the Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, summed up the results of the two-day visit to the Arctic by the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Alexey Chekunkov, and instructed the head of the economic block, Vice-Governor Olga Kuznetsova, to take control of the implementation of the agreements reached.
The Governor made a special emphasis on the work on the project "New Murmansk".
"We have been very detailed in the preparation of the project of redevelopment of the port territory "New Murmansk". Let me remind you that we started this work together with Alexey Chekunkov, when he was still managing the Fund for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, as part of the agreement signed with the Fund at that time. Now the relevant work on the preparation of the concept has been carried out, we discussed it at a meeting with the Minister on Thursday, determined the entire approach with the scenario and financial and economic model, and agreed on specific joint steps. I ask you, Olga Alexandrovna, to keep this work under control so that what we agreed with the Minister is implemented. "New Murmansk is an important project for Murmansk, for the region and for the entire Russian Arctic," said Andrey Chibis.
The head of the region also instructed the government to focus on practical work on other issues supported by the Ministry of Regional Development, such as energy supply to the western shore of the Kola Bay and the elimination of accumulated environmental damage in the waters of the Kola Bay and on the territory of the Srednij and Rybachij peninsulas.
