Today, Governor Andrey Chibis held a working meeting with the CEO of SAFFARM LLC Divesh Kumar. Recall that in June, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Government of the Murmansk Region, the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (KRDV) and the SAFFARM company, in the presence of the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexey Chekunkov, signed a cooperation agreement that provides for the construction of a pharmaceutical complex and a plant of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
"The Government of the Murmansk Region once again confirms its interest in the development of biotechnologies in our region. Moreover, during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, we also discussed the topic of technology development, including scientific research with the participation of Murmansk Arctic University. Therefore, your proposed investment project and everything related to it, including the active involvement of our science, seems very promising to us, and we will provide comprehensive assistance to its implementation," Andrei Chibis said.
Director General of SAFFARM LLC Divesh Kumar thanked the head of the region for the support and stressed the importance of the project for the Indian side.
"We are ready to move into the practical plane – at the moment, in cooperation with the relevant departments of the Government of the Murmansk region, we are looking for the most convenient land plot for the construction of a pharmaceutical complex that would meet not only business, but also environmental requirements," Divesh Kumar said.
In August, SAFFARM LLC received the status of a resident of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. In 2024-2027, construction of a pharmaceutical complex consisting of three blocks with a total area of more than 14 thousand square meters is planned in Murmansk. The creation of a modern high-tech pharmaceutical production will satisfy the domestic demand for antibiotics, vaccines, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, including hormonal and oncological preparations. Import-substituting products will be supplied to state hospitals and pharmacies in Russia and CIS countries. A phased implementation of the project with a capacity of over 1.3 billion units of medicines and 1.8 thousand tons per year of active pharmaceutical ingredients with the possibility of further expansion to 6 thousand tons per year is envisaged within three years. The launch of the enterprise will allow 280 Northerners to be employed.
