Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, and Igor Zimin, Vice President for Government Relations at Ozon, signed a cooperation agreement at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The document provides for the development of the company's logistics infrastructure in the region, including the launch of a delivery hub and a warehouse complex.
The delivery hub is expected to start operating this year. It will ensure the acceptance and processing of orders, followed by the transfer of goods for delivery to customers or to order pick-up points.
The next stage will be the construction of a logistics complex with an area of 60 thousand square meters, which is scheduled to be launched in 2028. The center will provide a full processing cycle — from the acceptance of goods to the formation of parcels and their delivery.
"The new logistics center will give Arctic entrepreneurs the opportunity to significantly scale their business and create additional jobs, shorten delivery times and reduce costs. Taking into account the development of the region's transport and logistics potential, this complex will provide additional loading of routes and contribute to the formation of a cargo base," said Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region.
Ozon's investments in the technological equipment and IT infrastructure of the logistics complex will amount to 3.5 billion rubles. It is planned to introduce modern automated equipment of Ozon's own design at the facility. The complex will speed up the delivery of orders, including to small towns in the region, as well as expand opportunities for the development of local entrepreneurship.
The project will create new jobs and become an additional driver of the regional economy.
"For us, the development of logistics in the region is not only about accessibility for people, but also about supporting local entrepreneurs and their daily work. This is especially important for the development of the Arctic zone of Russia, where reliable infrastructure directly affects both the quality of life and business opportunities. When entrepreneurs have modern logistics solutions, it is easier for them to grow, deliver goods to customers across the country faster, and make plans for the future more confidently. We especially appreciate the support of the Murmansk Region government: constructive dialogue between the region and business helps to develop the local economy, create new jobs and make entrepreneurial activity in the North even stronger and more sustainable," commented Igor Zimin, Vice President for Government Relations at Ozon.
Today, the platform's capabilities are actively used by entrepreneurs in the region: a thousand sellers from the Murmansk region are developing business on Ozon. Over the past three years, their turnover on the marketplace has increased 3 times. The company is also consistently developing the logistics infrastructure in the region. Currently, there are almost 400 order pick-up points, while every second one is open in small towns and rural settlements.
