
Roman Chekushov, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, paid a working visit to the Murmansk Region. During the visit, a meeting on industrial development of the Murmansk Region was held, Roman Chekushov also visited the Murmansk Commercial Seaport and industrial enterprises in Khibiny, held a meeting with students of Murmansk Arctic University in the Arctic Dialogue format.
The Deputy Minister's program began with a meeting with the Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, during which issues of increasing cargo turnover in the Murmansk region, in particular, the development of the Northern Sea Route, were discussed.
Next, Roman Chekushov organized a working meeting with representatives of the Murmansk Region government, business associations, as well as entrepreneurs of the region. The meeting was devoted to the development of industry and entrepreneurship in the region.
During the meeting, Tatyana Lyashchuk, Acting Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region and Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the Murmansk Region, spoke about the main directions of economic development of the Murmansk Region and possible support mechanisms for expanding its production facilities. Roman Chekushov, in turn, informed about the main priorities of the implementation of industrial and trade policy in the Russian Federation and answered the questions of entrepreneurs about the possible use of federal support measures.
During the visit, Roman Chekushov visited the Murmansk Commercial Seaport. During a meeting with the port management with the participation of Deputy Governor of the Murmansk Region – Minister of Transport and Road Management Yulia Poliektova, Director General of the Murmansk Region Development Corporation Artyom Kuksa and the heads of the Port Alliance JSC, questions were raised regarding possible measures to increase transshipment volumes.
At the end of the program, on February 13, an Arctic Dialogue was held at the Murmansk Arctic University with the participation of Roman Chekushov. The students were able to ask the deputy minister questions about domestic and foreign trade, the development of marketplaces, Russia's response to sanctions, industrial tourism and pharmaceuticals. After talking with the students, Roman Chekushov, accompanied by the UIA leadership, inspected the educational laboratories and got acquainted with the university's development plans.
On February 14, Roman Chekushov visited industrial enterprises in Khibiny: the youngest mining enterprise in the Murmansk region, GOK Oleny Ruchey, a modern production facility with a high degree of automation, the Kirov branch of JSC Apatit, and the BELAZ technical service center, which opened last November.
