The International Arctic Forum is an incentive for the development of the Murmansk region

This was stated by the Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, during a direct line, where he answered questions from residents of the region, including the importance of holding the International Arctic Forum "Arctic – Territory of Dialogue" in Murmansk on March 26-27, 2025.

"Holding major international events in the regions is always a great incentive for their development. The forums attract a large number of people, create additional jobs, generate interest in the region and help find investments in infrastructure development. The work of the Arctic Forum in Murmansk is a great confidence in the region and a high responsibility for us in terms of holding the event at the highest level. Key issues of Arctic development will be discussed at this event, and it is of fundamental importance to me that Murmansk is where the strategy for the development of the Russian Arctic is being discussed. Holding such a forum in our city is of particular importance for the further development of the Murmansk Region and the Arctic region as a whole," said Andrey Chibis, answering a question about the role of the event for the northern region.

The Governor noted that the organization of the forum is proceeding according to plan with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Roscongress Foundation.

"As part of the first meeting of the Forum's Organizing Committee, which was led by Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, all necessary decisions were taken, which are already being implemented and will allow for preparations in all areas as soon as possible," said Andrey Chibis.

During the forum, the Murmansk Region will host the traditional Festival of the North. One of the main events of the event program will be the 51st Murmansk Ski Marathon. In 2025, the Polar Olympiad will be an anniversary one – the sports competitions will be held for the 90th time.

"After an additional analysis of the infrastructure capabilities and the number of planned visitors, we, together with the Marathon Organizing Committee, decided to leave the competition on the same dates – March 29-30 – as previously planned," said Andrey Chibis.

The International Arctic Forum "The Arctic – the Territory of Dialogue" is a key platform for discussing topical issues of socio–economic development of the Arctic territories, developing multi-level multilateral mechanisms for joint disclosure and effective development of the powerful resource potential of the Arctic region. The forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation.

In 2025, the event will be held under the slogan "Live in the North!". The forum's program will address topical issues of comprehensive renovation and improvement of northern cities and towns, improving people's quality of life, and creating an attractive infrastructure for their lives. The cultural and sports programs of the IAF-2025 are planned to be no less intense.
