Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev: Murmansk Region is among the leaders of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation in the implementation of investment projects

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev is on a working trip to the Murmansk region. During the visit, a working meeting with Governor Andrei Chibis took place in Kirovsk. The key issue on the agenda is the implementation of investment projects in the region.

Governor Andrey thanked the Deputy Prime Minister for his attention to the Murmansk region and stressed that the decisions taken on the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation gave a serious impetus to the development of the region.

"Over the past five years, we have managed to achieve migration growth. The volume of investments, including those support regimes that appeared thanks to your decision and active participation, amounted to 1 trillion 200 million rubles. Only residents of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and the TOP "Capital of the Arctic" have already created five thousand jobs in the region, and this work continues. GRP has already exceeded 2.5 times growth in four years," Andrei Chibis noted.

In addition, the head of the region reported on two main projects that are currently under implementation.

"President Vladimir Putin supported the gasification of the Murmansk region – this will allow us to process what is produced here, and accordingly increase the volume and production. This is also important for the country, as the cost will be lower and, of course, it is fundamentally important for the development of our region," the governor said.

Another major project is the Murmansk Transport Hub.

"The labor movement on the new railway on the western shore of the Kola Bay has been launched, today a new port "Lavna" is being built. The next step that needs to be taken is to increase the carrying capacity of railways, because the volume of demand for port facilities has become huge today. Here I would like to ask for your support so that this can be done within the framework of a new national project," the head of the region addressed the Deputy Prime Minister.

Governor Andrey Chibis also reported on the activities of the working group of the State Council for the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation and thanked Yuri Trutnev for supporting the initiatives.

"A set of those solutions that are being discussed together with other subjects and experts have received the support of the President of Russia thanks to you. We will continue to actively develop this work in order to initiate a consolidated position of other subjects of the Russian Federation. Thank you so much for your support!" said Andrey Chibis.

"The set of projects that we will consider today at a meeting with investors indicates that the Murmansk region is among the leaders in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. This is a common job – the work of the regional government, the governor and all local authorities, because investors come only to places where the regime is friendly towards them. Today we will talk in more detail about each project and try to help them. In general, a lot of work is being done in the Murmansk region. Thank you!" said Yuri Trutnev.
