The Murmansk region is among the top 20 regions of Russia in terms of industrial complex in GRP

Governor Andrey Chibis held a visiting meeting of the Government of the Murmansk region in Monchegorsk. One of the key issues was the development of the industrial complex of the region in 2023. The head of the region noted that the industrial complex forms the basis of the region's economy, its share in the gross regional product is 47.8%. 


"By the scale of the industrial complex in the gross regional product, the Murmansk Region is among the top 20 regions of Russia. The share of the manufacturing industry in GRP is 33.6%, this is the 8th place in Russia. The volume of shipped products of the entire industrial complex in 2022 exceeded 1.1 trillion rubles – according to it, the region ranks 27th in the country," the governor listed.  

 

Industrial complex enterprises provide employment for almost a quarter of workers in all sectors of the region's economy; the average salary in the main branches of the industrial complex is higher than in the region.  


"The average salary in the field of mining is 130.5 thousand rubles. In almost all industries, there was an increase in employee salaries by an average of 20% in 2022. I want to thank all the managers, despite a rather difficult year, sanctions, taking into account all the risks that arose, it was especially important to support our employees. We have agreed on this with the management and shareholders of the companies. Thanks to everyone who fulfilled the additional social obligation," Andrey Chibis stressed.  

 

The Governor recalled that with the support of President Vladimir Putin, all decisions have been made on the gasification of the Murmansk region, as well as on the extraction and processing of lithium.  


"The implementation of these projects will attract multibillion-dollar investments and taxes to the economy of the Murmansk region with the creation of several tens of thousands of jobs. The technological issues of the project are being worked out now," the head of the region stressed.
