The territory of advanced development Capital of the Arctic has been expanded

By a decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, the borders of the territories of advanced development in the Far East and in The Arctic zone of Russia. Thanks to the decisions taken, it is planned to begin construction of a Western transport and logistics hub on new sites in the Kola district of the Murmansk region.


"Cargo transshipment will be carried out there between ice-class container ships that will go along the Northern Sea Route and non-ice-class vessels. The construction of a terminal and two deep-water berths is planned as part of the transport and logistics hub. The volume of investments is estimated at more than 44.5 billion rubles, and the launch of the facility will provide jobs for more than 700 people," commented Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region.


Recall that the agreement with the company on the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a nuclear power plant at the TOP "Capital of the Arctic" was signed in December 2023 at VDNH as part of the Day of the Murmansk Region at the exhibition "Russia" with the participation of the Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexey Chekunkov and the governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis. The project is a marine container terminal designed for the transit transshipment of containers delivered by ice-class container ships, built within the framework of the Eurasian Container Transit project, according to the sea-sea scheme.  

The ZTL construction project was included in the Development Plan of the Northern Sea Route for the period up to 2035, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation. 


The TOP is a special tool for the development of territories designed to stimulate priority sectors of the economy and attract new investors. A wide range of benefits and preferences are available to resident companies, including the procedure of a free customs zone.


The expansion of the boundaries of the TOP will allow the launch of new investment projects and continue the implementation of business initiatives that have already begun.
