The Murmansk Region Development Corporation has released the thirtieth issue of the investment digest. The collection presents the news and events that had the greatest impact on the investment development of the region this fall (September-October 2024).
Autumn is consistently considered an active period for business activity. By November, the number of residents of the Arctic zone reached 275 projects, thus the Murmansk Region retains leadership in attracting investments in the Arctic using a special preferential regime. The new residents plan to implement the Fersman Peak tourist project, build a loading and unloading railway dead end, a road service enterprise, as well as an equestrian arena in Apatity, a pharmacy in Varzuga and a restaurant in Kola. To date, the total amount of investments attracted by residents has exceeded 241 billion rubles.
In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at the Eastern Economic Forum that a world-class campus would be built in Murmansk. It is planned to create a modern infrastructure for the education and life of students on the basis of Murmansk Arctic University. As a result, the main university will expand its student admission opportunities to 11,600 people.
The event that attracted attention to the Murmansk Region at the federal level, according to the Development Corporation, was the governor's speech at the strategic session chaired by Mikhail Mishustin, during which Andrei Chibis presented initiatives for accelerated socio-economic development of the Arctic. In particular, the head of the region noted that financing master plan facilities within the framework of national projects is a priority, and it is also important to provide additional federal funding for energy-efficient capital repair programs. Now the proposed initiatives will be worked out in detail together with colleagues from federal authorities.
In early autumn, the Murmansk region was visited by the Plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District, Alexander Gutsan. During the visit, he was one of the first to visit the site of the implemented investment project, the Udarnik terminal. The modern refrigerated complex is designed for the storage of fish products and will serve as a logistics distribution center. And the next stage in the implementation of the investment project will be the creation of a ship repair enterprise,
Speaking of ship repair, in September the governor signed an agreement with the State Transport Leasing Company and Rosrybolovstvo on the construction of a ship repair cluster in the Murmansk region. The volume of investments in the project will amount to more than 20 billion rubles. Thus, the agreements concluded in 2022 on the creation of a large-scale project have become practical.
It is worth mentioning that this autumn the Murmansk region became one of the leaders of a number of federal ratings. The most important of them are presented in the investment digest. In particular, the region was among the three subjects of the Northwestern Federal District in terms of salaries for workers. This was made possible due to a noticeable increase in demand for labor in the Kola Arctic. The Murmansk Region is also one of the first regions in the country to introduce a system for processing business requests based on "Public Services". You can test the new system on the Investment Portal Murmansk region.
