A sports and recreation complex with curling tracks will be built in Murmansk under the Arctic concession

A sports and recreation complex will be built in Murmansk on Starostina Street with curling tracks and a gym for rhythmic gymnastics. The corresponding concession agreement was signed today in the government of the Murmansk region.   

In the presence of the head of the region Andrey Chibis, Minister of Sports Svetlana Naumova and Head of the Ministry of Construction Alexey Grachikov took part in the signing of the agreement, on the part of a private investor – Nikolay Adyukov, General Director of LLC First Murmansk Sports Infrastructure (JSC TRANSPROJECT Group). The project is included in the Murmansk Region's state program "Physical Culture and Sports", its implementation will help meet the needs of Northerners in high-quality sports infrastructure, the government reports.  

The sports and recreation complex will become the second sports facility to be built in the region under the mechanism of public-private partnership. And the first one built under the Arctic Concession. Financing from the federal budget in the amount of 65.4 million rubles is provided for the implementation of the project.  

"The relevant project documentation has been prepared. It is assumed that the sports and recreation complex will become a base for training and regional competitions in a number of disciplines: rhythmic gymnastics, mini-football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, dancing and others.  The new complex will be equipped with two curling tracks, which will allow the development of another Olympic sport in the region. A modern sports facility in this part of Murmansk is really necessary.The total volume of planned investments is 1.2 billion rubles, while the share of regional financing will be about 15%," the governor noted. 


Gyms provide seating for spectators, including places for people with limited mobility. Construction work is scheduled to begin in 2024.  
The development of the sports and recreation complex project was carried out by the Murmansk Region Development Corporation together with JSC TRANSPROJECT Group, which has successful experience in implementing infrastructure projects in Russia and CIS countries with a total investment of more than 3.5 trillion rubles.
