Alexey Chekunkov about the Center for the construction of large-tonnage offshore structures: The future economy of Russia is being created here

Today, before the first meeting of the working group on ensuring transport, logistics and socio-economic development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, the Head of the Ministry of Regional Development Alexey Chekunkov and Governor Andrey Chibis inspected the Center for the Construction of large-tonnage offshore structures in Belokamenka.

"The decisions taken by the Government to support the project both in terms of the organization of the territory of advanced development in the Murmansk region, and in terms of the possibility of granting the status of a resident of the "TOP" contracting organizations had a positive effect on the economy of the Murmansk region. The Government of the Russian Federation had to make difficult decisions in order to support this project: both in terms of the organization of the territory of advanced development in the Murmansk region, and in terms of the possibility of granting the status of a resident of the "TOP" contracting organizations. This decision had a positive effect on the budget of the Murmansk region. TSSKMS is one of the anchor projects for which the Northern Sea Route development plan was adopted," Alexey Chekunkov stressed.

In total, over 20 years, the products that will be produced, the production facilities built by NOVATEK in Belokamenka, as well as the profit of NOVATEK will bring more than $ 200 billion to the budget of the Russian Federation.

"The future economy of Russia is being created here. The company has passed the pandemic, all the difficulties of 2022 and is now preparing the first line of the plant for shipment with a plan to produce the first volumes of liquefied natural gas this year. We understand why we are rolling out the Northern Sea Route. For me, this is the most important conclusion when we aim for 80 million tons in 2024 and 200 million tons in 2030. These are the structures that justify the investments of the Government of the Russian Federation and extra–budgetary organizations, as well as work along the entire length of the Northern Sea Route from Murmansk to Vladivostok," the head of the Ministry of Regional Development said.

Alexey Chekunkov stressed that the global energy balance is undergoing changes in terms of electricity generation. Renewable energy sources play an important role: the sun, wind.

"But the energy industry of large countries is increasingly tied to gas, and not everyone has it. And more and more natural gas is delivered by sea. NOVATEK became the pioneer of this business. The bill will go to dozens of factories that will power energy for billions of people in the next 100 years," concluded Alexey Chekunkov.

Andrey Chibis stressed that this is a high-tech production that any country in the world can envy.

"This is the future of both the Russian economy and an additional contribution to the economy of the Murmansk region. And also – these are opportunities for children who are studying at school, college, university today – to realize themselves. High-tech innovative production, which has no analogues in Russia, is currently operating in the Murmansk region. And the number of such unique objects will only grow. And this is a signal for young people: it is not necessary to go somewhere, there are all opportunities for career growth and professional development in the Murmansk region," the head of the region noted.

The Governor stressed that such production facilities can allow other projects to be produced.

"Colleagues are progressive, modern, they are in constant discussion: what else can be produced at this production site, because it is unique," the governor concluded.
