Denis Manturov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, and Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, held a working meeting in Moscow. On the eve of the joint meeting of the Commission of the State Council of the Russian Federation on the Development of the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route and the Maritime Board of the Russian Federation, the parties discussed the preparation of a comprehensive project.
"In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, given in March this year on the sidelines of the International Arctic Forum in Murmansk, we continue to work on issues related to all aspects of the development of the Arctic territories, the main national artery – the Transarctic transport Corridor, as well as the Northern Sea Route. In particular, work is underway to create a comprehensive project, taking into account the need to build and repair ships and icebreakers, increase the volume of mining and processing of minerals in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, gasification of our region, as well as taking into account the concept of the development of anchor cities initiated by us, which was also supported by the head of state. I thank Denis Valentinovich and his colleagues from the federal government for their active cooperation," said Andrey Chibis.
One of the important issues in the development of the Arctic macroregion is the training of highly professional personnel. For this purpose, a large-scale modernization of the educational environment continues in the Murmansk region. The First Deputy Prime Minister stressed the key task - the construction of a world–class campus in Murmansk on the basis of Murmansk Arctic University by 2030.
"With the support of Denis Valentinovich Manturov, Chairman of the university's Supervisory Board, as well as the Russian Ministry of Education and Science and industrial partners, we were able to accelerate the process of updating our main university. The educational and social infrastructure has been significantly updated, 30 new facilities have been commissioned, and 10 more are under construction. Among other things, they opened a platform for the accreditation of medical specialists, as well as a modern training complex for fighting for the survivability of the vessel, primarily a Coastal training and training center, which is being created as part of the campus project. During the meeting, we discussed further steps," the governor commented.
