Andrey Chibis and Mikhail Parnev discussed the implementation of key Arctic projects

Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, held a working meeting with Mikhail Parnev, General Director of the State Transport Leasing Company.

The central topics of the meeting were the implementation of strategic infrastructure projects that determine the development of not only the region, but also the entire Arctic zone of Russia.

The main issue was the creation of a modern cluster-type ship repair facility in the Murmansk Region on the territory of the MMTP coal base. The project, included in the master plan for the development of the Murmansk agglomeration, developed on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, is aimed at ensuring safe navigation in the Arctic.

"The unification of the facilities necessary for the project – berths and land plots - is currently underway. Experts calculate the economics of the project and refine its concept.Given the huge demand for ship repair and further development prospects, we hope that this project will also be properly implemented. Of course, the Lavna port is our key project. Powerful and state—of-the-art," the governor noted.

Also on the agenda is effective cooperation between the region and the GTLC in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles. The head of the region noted that this technology is actively and successfully used within the framework of national projects to solve practical tasks such as monitoring forest fires and registering real estate.

The parties agreed to continue close cooperation for the successful and timely implementation of both projects of national importance.

"As for Lavna, our key task is to reach the design capacity for coal transshipment in 2026. In this context, the issue of consolidating all coal within a single port is of particular importance. We believe that we cannot solve this problem without your help. Ideally, we would like all the coal that goes through Murmansk today to be transferred through Lavna. This would be correct from all points of view, including, most importantly, the environmental one," Mikhail Parnev said.

To date, the Lavna project is 95% ready, and almost a thousand specialists and more than 60 pieces of equipment are involved in the construction.
