Andrey Chibis proposed to provide priority financing for projects in the Arctic

President Vladimir Putin today held an expanded meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects and commissions of the State Council for socio-economic development. The governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis took part in it.

"The main, meaningful work on achieving national goals is carried out, of course, not in offices. We always talk about this with you: it is taking place locally — in the regions of the Federation, in our cities and towns. This means that the efforts of regional and municipal teams, entrepreneurs, public associations and citizens' initiatives play a decisive role here," Vladimir Putin said, opening the meeting.

The head of the Murmansk Region addressed the President with a proposal to provide priority financing for the Arctic territories within the framework of the implementation of national projects. Andrey Chibis stressed that this will ensure more comfortable living conditions and increase the population.

"Fighting for people is the most important thing right now. If we do not provide advanced work within the framework of national projects in the Arctic territories, then it will be impossible to keep this bar. I ask you to fix a decision for the Arctic by analogy with the Far East, where it works successfully, that projects within the framework of national development goals, including through master plans, should have certain priority funding limits. This also applies to the topic of healthcare, emergency housing, and major repairs, taking into account that infrastructure," Andrei Chibis said.

Another priority that needs to be fixed, the head of the region called the development of the transport infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route, including the strategically important project – the Murmansk transport hub.
