Andrey Chibis took part in a strategic session on the spatial development of Russia

Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin held a strategic session in the format of the VKS on updating the Strategy of spatial development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 with a forecast up to 2036. The session was attended by the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis.

The Prime Minister stressed that the current foreign policy trends are radically changing the logistics of transportation, the importance of the territories through which new international transport corridors pass is growing, and the prospects for port cities, including along the Northern Sea Route, are expanding. It is important to ensure a decent quality of life for citizens, regardless of their place of residence: including in northern latitudes, sparsely populated and hard-to-reach areas. These include opportunities to receive education, medical services, a comfortable urban environment, social infrastructure and provision of high-tech jobs.

As Mikhail Mishustin noted, a wide range of tools and support measures are used to help the regions maintain growth dynamics.

"These are special government programs for the Arctic, the Far East, the North Caucasus, Crimea, Sevastopol, the Kaliningrad region, as well as for the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions. And individual programs for a number of Russian subjects. And also measures for the integrated development of rural areas. On behalf of the President, we are developing common standards for the renewal of key settlements, preparing and implementing master plans for cities, building infrastructure, launching mechanisms to stimulate private investment and, of course, paying special attention to personnel training," Mikhail Mishustin said.

In the Murmansk region, work is actively underway on the integrated development of the main settlements of the Russian Arctic: master plans have already been developed and approved for the Murmansk, Kirovsko-Apatitskaya and Monchegorsk agglomerations, the city of Polar Dawns.

In addition, the draft strategy included the further development of capacities in the Murmansk Region to ensure the Northern Sea Route: including the expansion of the railway's carrying capacity, the development of port areas; the project of gasification of the region with the help of a main gas pipeline; the creation of a world-class university campus and healthcare facilities.
