On the eve of the three-year anniversary of the creation of the TOP "Capital of the Arctic", the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis conducted a career guidance tour for young northerners on major investment projects implemented in the region. The meeting was held within the framework of the "Conversations about important things" program. Among the participants are high school students from Murmansk school No. 36, Gymnasium No. 9, students of the construction college named after N.E. Momot, as well as activists of the "Movement of the First".
"I am glad that today, on the eve of the three-year anniversary of the creation of a unique territory of advanced development, we will look at several strategic investment projects that are being actively implemented in the Murmansk region. Very soon you will have to make decisions about who to be, and for this you need objective data about the region's present and future," Andrei Chibis addressed the participants of the tour.
The guys visited one of the anchor residents of the territory of advanced development — NOVATEK-Murmansk. The company is implementing a project to create a Center for the construction of large-tonnage offshore structures in accordance with the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, it has also been awarded the status of a strategic investment project and a large-scale investment project of the Murmansk region. More than 100 Russian manufacturers have been involved in the construction, some of their high-tech products have no analogues in the Russian Federation. Currently, the construction of the first two liquefaction lines based on gravity type for the Arctic LNG 2 project is underway.
"NOVATEK won me over with its grandiosity. I would like to work here in the future. Today we were able to learn more about the production potential of the region, and it impressed us with its scale. Comprehending new knowledge is the best thing that can be in life," the 9th grade student shared.
Also during the tour, the children were told about the unique coal transshipment terminal "Lavna", it is an integral part of the project "Integrated development of the Murmansk transport hub".
"To date, the readiness of the project is about 60%. This year we plan to accept the first coal. The volume of transshipment is 18 million tons. The technology is modern, unloading one car takes from two to five minutes. Further along the conveyor belts it goes to a larger warehouse, for each type of coal it is its own," said Andrey Levakin, adviser to the General Director.
The site manager noted that there are almost no analogues of the port in the country, cruising transshipment is organized here, in addition, dust will not harm the environment, it will settle at the bottom of the container. Andrey Levakin stressed that young Northerners are actively interested in working conditions.
"It is important that they understand that comfortable conditions are here. I would like to note that 900 people will be involved in operation after the launch," he said.
Another point of the tour was the construction site of the nearest railway approaches to the port of Lavna. The project provides for the construction of a 46 km long railway line, 11 artificial structures, as well as 2 traction substations. The construction is carried out within the framework of the project "Integrated development of the Murmansk transport hub".
We also visited the construction site of the Udarnik terminal.
"The Udarnik terminal refrigeration complex is being built here, it is one of the largest and most modern in the Murmansk Region. The construction completion plan is scheduled for November-December. Such specialties as dockworkers, machine operators, talmans, mechanics of refrigerated installations and refrigeration equipment are in demand," said Gennady Syurin, Deputy General Director for Production.
The guys actively asked questions and shared their impressions. One of the participants was interested in the development of an IT cluster in the region. Andrey Chibis explained that the construction and transshipment at the terminals are automated. A student of school No. 36 noted that the tour showed the Murmansk region from the other side, the region struck him with its scale.
In the future, the northerner planned to be a teacher, but the event inspired him to try his hand at one of the facilities. Another young man asked a question about the development of science in the Murmansk region. The head of the region noted that the Kola Scientific Center employs young scientists from large cities. A number of support measures have also been created in the region. For example, young researchers in the region can receive 20 thousand rubles a month for their contribution to science.
"Unique technological projects are being implemented in the Murmansk Region thanks to the territory of advanced development. The main goal is for our students, college students, youth representatives to see what the Kola Arctic is, what potential it has. It is necessary that children have information on whom to study, where. It was important to show the active development of the region in reality, and not on slides, so that children could see, feel, and make a decision. Since the beginning of the school year, we will be even more actively informing our students about what is happening on projects so that they feel, understand and are proud of our region," the governor concluded.
In addition to these projects, others are being actively implemented in the region. For example, the gasification of the region, supported by the President, has become practical, an agreement has been reached with the Republic of Belarus on the creation of a new mineral fertilizer terminal in the region, preparations are underway for the development of lithium deposits. More than 50% of the reserves of this metal in Russia are concentrated in the region. In addition, with the support of the federal government, the construction of the Murmansk transport hub is in an active stage. Thanks to the growth of the economy, many social programs and support measures for various categories of citizens are being implemented in the region.
Recall that on May 12, 2020, by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 656, the territory of advanced socio-economic development "Capital of the Arctic" was created in the Murmansk Region. This is a part of the territory where a special legal regime has been established for entrepreneurial and other types of activities, designed to create conditions favorable for attracting investors and ensure the development of the socio-economic sphere at an accelerated pace. Tax benefits and administrative preferences apply to residents of the TOP. The total amount of investments announced by residents of the TOP of the Murmansk region is more than 164.79 billion rubles, in total it is planned to create 4,594 new jobs.
