Novak and Chibis discussed prospects for the development of the fuel and energy complex of the Murmansk region

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak highly appreciated the prospects for the development of the fuel and energy complex of the Murmansk region. He said this during a working meeting with Governor Andrey Chibis.

"The Murmansk region is actively developing. In order for socio-economic projects to be implemented in the region, energy development is required. The opening of the Kola wind Farm, the largest wind farm in the Arctic zone of the whole world, will enable the region to improve the energy balance in terms of reducing emissions into the atmosphere. For the same purpose, a gasification program has been created in the Murmansk Region, which is being implemented with the support of the Russian Government. A large-scale energy efficiency improvement program is also being implemented, part of which is the gradual abandonment of fuel oil dependence and the transition to cleaner, environmentally friendly energy sources. The government of the Murmansk Region is helping us in this direction," Alexander Novak stressed.

Governor Andrey Chibis noted that gasification is one of the most important investment projects for the Murmansk region.

"A large-scale strategic gasification project will help to reduce utility bills for the population, increase the environmental sustainability of the region, gives completely different opportunities for the development of industry, including those projects that are already in the works - and this is 400 billion rubles of investment and 20 thousand jobs. I would like to express my great gratitude to President Vladimir Putin for his support, and to the Russian Government for the detailed elaboration of this strategic project. The main thing is that no sanctions restrictions have stopped us from economic growth," the governor stressed.
