At the meeting of the government of the Murmansk region summed up the results of the economic development of the region

A meeting of the government of the Murmansk Region was held in Kirovsk under the leadership of Governor Andrey Chibis. One of the most important issues on the agenda was the results of the economic development of the region.

"We have 51 backbone enterprises. All of them ensure the stability and development of our economic base. They employ 45% of the total number of employees on the list throughout the region. The contribution of these companies to the gross regional product is 67%, and the volume of tax revenues to the consolidated budget of the region is 70%," Andrei Chibis said.

The Governor stressed that all key production facilities are operating normally, and stability in the labor market of the region is ensured.

"Of course, this is a great contribution of companies to the restructuring of processes related to sanctions. We are entering the next year with confidence. According to the results of 10 months, growth continues in manufacturing and energy, construction, ports and terminals, and exports of goods. Thus, the index in manufacturing amounted to 102%, while the average in Russia is 99.3%," the governor said.

The head of the region noted that despite the imposed export restrictions and logistical difficulties, the supply of Murmansk products to foreign markets, including EU countries, continues. Thus, exports of goods amounted to $ 6.3 billion with an increase of 1.5 times by 2021; seaports and terminals processed 47.9 million tons of cargo, which is 3% higher than last year's level, in Russia – a decrease of 0.1%.

"At the regional level, we also focused on anti-crisis measures. And during this period, almost 600 small and medium-sized businesses were supported. The total amount of support amounted to about 3.1 billion rubles. This had its effect. In the sector of small and medium-sized businesses, the number of employees has increased to 94 thousand people. The increase over the same period in 2021 amounted to 13.3% or 11 thousand people. This indicates that the work in this direction is being carried out effectively. The number of small and medium–sized businesses in the region has grown to 24.8 thousand," the head of the region said.

The Governor thanked the Government of the Russian Federation for supporting the most important projects, and also expressed gratitude to everyone who works at enterprises and in the economic block.

"We see that the economy has withstood and withstood. We managed to achieve several important decisions. Thus, the Government of the Russian Federation has allocated funding for the integrated development of the Murmansk transport hub. We are also reconstructing the water supply system for the development of the most important projects. In addition, we have received funding for the creation of energy infrastructure on the western shore of the Kola Bay. Two more key projects are gasification of the region, as well as lithium mining. All this is a big growth area for improving the quality of people's lives, developing our economy and the investment potential of the region," concluded Andrey Chibis.

Vice-Governor Olga Kuznetsova told more about the results of the economic development of the region.
