First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov supported the Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis on the topic of modernization of the 10 SRZ.
"We need to carefully prepare all the regulatory legal acts that should be in place to ensure further investment and implementation of this project. Send us a letter and I will give instructions to all interested departments," Denis Manturov said during a bilateral meeting held in Murmansk today.
Governor Andrey Chibis stressed that JSC "10 SRZ" is the oldest ship repair plant on the northern coast of the Kola Peninsula. The strategic and city-forming enterprise will celebrate its 90th anniversary next year. After modernization, the plant will be able to carry out not only ship repair, but also shipbuilding. This requires the renewal of the mooring wall, the construction and repair of workshops and the expansion of the approach channel.
"Today, our partners and I are working on a project to develop production and maintenance of drilling platforms there. To do this, a whole set of things, of course, must be accepted, but it is fundamentally important that the Northern Fleet agrees that this must be done. And this will, of course, give the volume of investments and, in fact, a new production based on a ship repair plant. In addition, we have approved a plan for the construction of a ship repair complex at one of the sites of the fishing port. GTLK will start designing this year. Given that we have a huge industrial complex, it is fundamentally important for us to develop our own capacities," the governor noted and thanked Denis Manturov for his support.
The parties also discussed the creation of lithium production in the Murmansk region, and the development of the Murmansk Arctic University.
"We will continue to help the University and attract, among other things, budget funds to implement the directions that we discussed in the past, and today at the meeting of the Supervisory Board – regarding the creation of a Coastal training Center. According to all the requirements that appear. This is an expensive, but very important and in–demand direction, so that we have such a center in this area, in an educational institution, so as not to send specialists to the Far East, where there is already such a center, but to use these opportunities at our university," Denis Manturov stressed.
Andrey Chibis noted that with the support of the First Deputy Prime Minister, who headed the supervisory board of the university, Murmansk Arctic University is actively being modernized.
"We treat education with special trepidation and attention, with your support, laboratories, classrooms and dormitories are being renovated, new premises are being created. And the demand for education at our university is only growing. More and more children are choosing the Murmansk Region to receive higher education in order to subsequently work at our enterprises," the governor said and thanked Denis Manturov for systematic collaboration.
