Today, on May 14, in St. Petersburg, the Governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, held a working meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Gazprom, Vitaly Markelov, and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Alexey Besprozvannykh. The main topic of discussion was the conditions for the construction of the gas pipeline in the Murmansk region. As a result of the meeting, the parties decided to calculate the possibility of implementing the project by June 15.
Earlier, on May 12, the issue of gasification of the region was discussed by Andrey Chibis at a trilateral meeting with the Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and the Plenipotentiary representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District Alexander Gutan. The initiative to build the gas pipeline was supported from all sides.
"We very much hope that the most important issue for the Murmansk Region will be resolved positively. The construction of the gas pipeline is not only an aid to the development of industry, but also a significant reduction in the cost of housing and communal services for the northerners. According to our calculations, the payment for utilities will be reduced by 20%," said Andrey Chibis.
Recall that the question of the need for the arrival of gas in the Arctic region has been raised by the regional authorities before the federal center for several years. Thanks to the persistent position of the Governor Andrey Chibis, the process has turned into a practical plane. This year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak worked on the construction of a gas pipeline in the Murmansk region on behalf of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and recognized its feasibility. In addition, according to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, " The Murmansk region is classified as a promising region for the development of autonomous LNG gasification."
It should be noted that the construction of the gas pipeline will allow large enterprises to implement their own projects for processing raw materials extracted in the Arctic and creating a gas chemical production cluster. And residents of the Murmansk region-to save on utilities.
