Governor Andrey Chibis: all previously reached agreements on cooperation with the Republic of Belarus are being implemented in full

A working meeting of the Murmansk Region government team led by Andrei Chibis with the delegation of the Republic headed by the Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko took place today.

"All previously reached agreements on cooperation with the Republic of Belarus are being implemented in full. So, within the framework of a working meeting with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, a decision was made on transshipment of Belarusian goods. Currently, the regional government, together with Belaruskali, is implementing a project to create a terminal for the transshipment of potash fertilizers on the territory of the Kola Polar Region, its capacity is 5-7 million tons per year. The mechanism is working, we have studied in detail and clearly the territories where a large–scale terminal construction project can be implemented in the future," the governor said.

In February 2023, a working group of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus visited the Murmansk region, during which issues on the development of cooperation in the transport and logistics sphere were discussed, promising sites for the creation of port infrastructure, features of navigation in the waters of the port of Murmansk, as well as the possibilities of the Oktyabrskaya Railway for the delivery of Belarusian goods and cargo were considered taking into account the comprehensive development of the Murmansk transport hub and the increase in the carrying capacity of the railway. Over the past two months, the regional government has done a lot of work to collect all the necessary analytical information on promising locations of infrastructure issues related to logistics.

"We are grateful for the support provided by you. The issues of using the northern direction for cargo transshipment are discussed in detail. We intend to work out the issue closely and come to a final, strategic decision. We also attach great importance to cooperation in the development of agriculture. We are ready to expand the range of supplies. There are also great prospects in the supply of fish feed, which is produced in the Republic of Belarus," Roman Golovchenko said.

Another important direction is the supply of transport and equipment for production.

"The main interaction is based on the supply of quarry equipment. You have visited an automobile plant, it does not stand still, all the pressing issues of import substitution have been resolved. The plant is ready to provide enterprises of the Murmansk region with modern equipment. An additional direction is the supply of mining equipment. An important project is the construction of the BelAZ service center in Apatity, the training of the necessary personnel can take place on the basis of the MAGU branch, where a special laboratory has been created," the Prime Minister noted.

In addition, 12 units of Amkodor equipment have been delivered to the municipalities of the Murmansk region. About 300 "BelAZ", including especially heavy-duty ones, work at the mining enterprises of the region. Five pieces of equipment have been purchased from Belarusian partners for the Murmansk City Road Management, and in 2023, a purchase is being carried out for the operation of an enrichment plant from the company "HAVER WU metal-woven Plant" LLC.

Roman Golovchenko also stressed that cooperation on the supply of passenger transport continues.

"More than two hundred Belarusian–made public transport units are operating on the streets of the Murmansk Region, we have a serious program to replace and increase their number," the governor said.

In 2022 JSC "Electric Transport" signed contracts with JSC "MAZ" for the supply of buses and trolleybuses, in 2023 it is planned to purchase 15 trolleybuses "Belkommunmash". Work was also carried out on the organization of direct flights on the route Murmansk — Minsk — Murmansk. Flights will be operated on Tuesdays. The travel time is 2 hours and 40 minutes. The first flight took place on May 23.

"Another direction is the supply of elevator equipment. We have big plans, we are ready to take part in equipping the new terminal of the Murmansk Airport," the Prime Minister of Belarus noted.

Roman Golovchenko and the governor noted the need to continue cultural and scientific ties.

"Murmansk Arctic State University signed a cooperation agreement between the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Research and Production Center of Multifunctional Unmanned Complexes of the National Academy of Science of Belarus" in order to develop scientific activities for the development and production of drones," the head of the region said.

Andrey Chibis stressed that long-standing partnerships have been established in the field of culture.

"Children from our theater school have recently performed on the stage of the Belarusian State Academic Theater of Young Spectators with the play "Children of the military Murmansk", your theaters also actively participate in our festivals. This gives additional opportunities for development," the governor concluded.
