Governor Andrey Chibis held a meeting with the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov

Today, the Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis held a working meeting with the General Director – Chairman of the Board of JSC "Russian Railways" Oleg Belozerov. During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the construction of the railway to the coal port "Lavna", as well as the possibility of increasing the number of modern comfortable long-distance trains running from Murmansk in the southern direction.

"I am glad to see you again in the Murmansk region. First of all, I would like to thank you for supporting the implementation of the Murmansk Transport Hub development project, which is the most important for the region and the country. Thanks to your assistance and joint efforts, all decisions on the completion of the railway have been made. The construction of the MTU will give a new impetus to the development of the economy and the loading of the Northern Sea Route," Andrei Chibis stressed.

"The Murmansk transport hub is one of the key development directions for Russian railways. We are implementing the approach to the port of Lavna together with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation. The project is big, and of course, without your personal participation, Andrey Vladimirovich, without the efforts of the region, could not have taken place. On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, we must open a working movement towards the port of Lavna by the end of 2023," Oleg Belozerov said.

Also during the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of increasing the number and updating the rolling stock of long-distance trains running from Murmansk station in the southern direction with modern passenger cars.

Oleg Belozerov noted that the issue will be considered.
