As part of his working trip, Governor Andrey Chibis inspected the production facilities and the new observation deck of the Kovdorsky GOK quarry. Also during the visit, the head of the region held a working meeting with the management of the enterprise. It was attended by Igor Nechaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC MHC EuroChem, Alexander Shlychkov Alexandrovich, Head of the Department for Cooperation with the Regions of JSC MHC EuroChem, and Valery Kuletsky, General Director of Kovdorsky GOK.
The volume of investments in the framework of the Kovdorsky Mining and Processing Plant development project is 105.9 billion rubles. The investment project involves the creation of conditions for the continued development of the Kovdorskoye deposit on deeper horizons, the extraction of additional ore, the production of additional finished goods, and the extension of the effective operation of the Kovdorskoye GOK. The work is actively underway.
"We have now looked in detail at how this is happening, which has already been done. Investments and jobs are fundamentally important. And of course, thank you for your cooperation in arranging the Carpet. I have visited a number of facilities today and talked with the residents – all these positive changes are being seen, and this is the result of our joint work, interaction with the management of MHC EuroChem and Kovdorsky GOK directly. You and I, as well as the municipal administration, are focused on teamwork, the development of the city and the plant, and I ask you to continue moving in this direction. We will also discuss a number of other topics, including recruitment to medical institutions and social issues. As a result, we will come up with a list of events within the framework of the new cooperation agreement," said Andrey Chibis.
Recall that in August 2024, the government of the Murmansk Region and JSC Kovdorsky GOK signed a cooperation agreement worth about 1.2 billion rubles for the implementation of eight activities in the field of healthcare, culture, education, sports, tourism and urban development in Kovdor. This agreement continued the long-standing partnership between the company and the region.
"For my part, I would like to thank you and your team, the municipal team, for their cooperation. I can state today that in five years of working together, we have managed to implement all the stated plans, including those of a social nature. And I have no doubts about the further effectiveness. Everything that we discuss during our meetings is always carefully considered by you, we always receive constructive feedback, and this is very important. The fact that we have launched this wonderful Palace of Culture today and created a number of parks is an excellent marker of effective and fruitful cooperation. Work that is not a shame, which is needed by the residents," said Igor Nechaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC MHC EuroChem.
For reference:
Kovdorsky GOK JSC is implementing large-scale investment projects to increase the mineral resource base, upgrade mining equipment and processing equipment, which will extend the period of open-pit mining operations until 2047, followed by the transition to an underground mining method. It is also planned to build a cyclic-flow technology for transporting rock overburden, which will allow lifting up to 70 million tons of rock mass from the deep horizons of the quarry. Other projects are being implemented aimed at increasing the volume of ore extraction and processing to 25 million tons per year and the production of finished products that meet modern quality standards.
